New Drill DVD in the PTR Drill Series!

Spyke Henry was named the 2008 Washington Kastles Tennis Coach of the Year. Spyke's Wilson High School Boys and Girls teams were undefeated in both the 2007 and 2008 seasons.  He's won the DCIAA title 11 of the last 13 years and has a career record of 98-2.  More importantly, in keeping with the World TeamTennis Kastles' founding principles, Spyke's non-profit organization SAFE works with at-risk youth on character and academic performance.


Dick Bashaw coached the Stowe High School Boy's Tennis Team to the 7th straight Division 11 Championships. The team made history by having all players from one team (Stowe) in the State Individual Tournament, in singles and doubles. The State Tournament is comprised of all levels of players from Vermont. Dick's record for the last four years is 59-1.


Christopher Trieste Named Skyline Conference Coach of the Year

A long time PTR member, Mount Saint Mary College Head Coach, Christopher Trieste, (New Windsor, N.Y.) was named the Skyline Conference Coach of the Year.  Chris led the Blue Knights to their first ever Skyline Conference Championship as the team eared a 5-4 victory over St. Joseph's College.  In addition to the program's first Skyline title, Chris led the Blue Knights to a school-record 14 wins and the team's best winning percentage ever (0.933).
 
The Coach of the Year Award was the first for Chris in his six years at Mount Saint Mary College.


PTR Wins Two 2008 APEX Awards

PTR was presented with two 2008 APEX Awards (Awards for Publishing Excellence) for TennisPro. This is the 20th Annual APEX Awards,  a competition for writers,  editors, publications staff and business and nonprofit communicators.

One APEX was for the January/February 2007 issue was in the Magazines & Journals category and won for Writing. The other, for the March/April 2007 issue, was in the category of Magazines & Journals - Print Over 32 Pages. Peggy Edwards, PTR Director of Communications, is the editor of TennisPro.

Tom Schrecengost is the new Head Coach at Barton College.

Francie Barragan was named USA South Conference Coach of the Year for Methodist College's Women's Tennis team. Methodist won the Conference Championship and reached the Top 32 at NCAA's this season.
