Facility Information: Gaston Country Club was established in 1919. It is a full service, member-owned private club with over 600 members. G.C.C. is in Gastonia, NC and is approximately 20 miles west of Charlotte. The tennis facility is comprised of a well-appointed professional shop, 10 outdoor lighted tennis courts – 6 clay & 4 hard with 4 pickleball courts and a viewing pavilion.
Position Description:
This position will work closely with the Director of Racquets to increase one’s in-depth practical knowledge of the country club racquets industry. The Racquets Professional will be exposed to every facet of the business to help them achieve a goal of future directorship.
• Will have USPTA and/or PTR certification.
• NTRP ranking of 4.5+ or recent play on a college varsity team.
• 1-2 years’ teaching in a private club setting preferred.
• Experience promoting, teaching private & group lessons to (juniors & adults) of all ability levels.
• Certification to teach/or experience with pickleball is a must!
• Practical knowledge of clay court maintenance.
• Ability to string and re-grip racquets.
• Assist members with pro-shop sales of racquet merchandise.
Responsibilities and Job Description:
Provide members, their families, and guests with an exceptional country club experience while maintaining an emphasis on the mission and core values of the Club.
• Will assist the Director of Racquets in organizing all tennis &pickleball activities and the day-to-day management of facilities.
• Help organize and promote adult & junior clinics, USTA adult & junior teams, social mixers and tournaments.
• Position requires daily clay court maintenance duties, upkeep of facility and weekly pro shop hours.
• Must be able to work some nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
• Adheres to all employee policies per guidelines set forth in the Employee Handbook.
• Maintains club provided uniform(shirts).
• Arrives on time and ready to work.
• Always conduct themselves in a professional and mature manner.
• Greets members, their families, and guests in a courteous and friendly manner, and addresses the member by last name whenever possible.
• The Racquets Professional will report directly to the Director of Racquets and will be responsible for carrying out any & all other assigned duties.

• Physical Demands (number of hours per day below may vary): Ability to bend, stretch, twist or reach, walk, stand, stoop, climb stairs, balance and/or crouch. Continuous repetitive motions. Physical exertion over long periods of time. Work in hot and humid and cold environments. Push, pull and lift at least 50 pounds.
• Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills and keep members, their families, and guests as the primary focus.
• Communication Skill Level: Must have a great attitude, be reliable and enjoy working both individually and in a team-oriented environment.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of unexpected circumstances in a way that highlights the values of the Club. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Compensation:
Position provides competitive compensation with a 40+hour work week. Additionally, compensation for lessons, clinics, camps and racquet restringing. (32-42k)
