The Director, Community Tennis and Youth Programs is responsible for fostering the growth of tennis in our local area as well as support the delivery of inspiring and memorable tennis experiences around the globe. This staff position manages the day-to-day administration and operations of community-based pathway programs and support for Be Legendary programs. In support of the Executive Director of TeamFAME, this position is responsible for supporting the development and execution of the Be Legendary programs in 5 – 7 markets around the globe annually.
• Develop on-court curriculum and pathways Program for K – 12 youth players.
• Coordinate and teach recreational tennis to youth ages 6 – 18 and incorporate life lessons and character development as they apply to sports
• Expand community-based outreach programs and initiatives, serving over 600 youth annually at 5+ program sites.
• Develop systems for pre and post evaluations for on-court progression, incorporating continuous improvement strategies for players.
• Communicate with parents/guardians, community organizations, and other program partners regularly. Organize “play days” for various groups.
• Organize competitive play opportunities, such as, USTA tournaments, middle school matches, NJTL matchups
• Evaluate student-athlete performance and provide accurate and timely feedback
• Incorporate trauma-informed sports practices using a style of coaching and supporting youth to effectively manage and grow from traumatic experiences through sport
• Ensure connections between on the court and off the court activities, this includes ensuring best practices in conflict resolution, positive youth development strategies, establishment of common language, etc.
• Develop on-court curriculum and oversee the Be Legendary activations globally.
• Assist in maintaining a safe environment utilizing structured procedures encouraging students to be respectful and kind
• Infuse an undeniable energy into the program by creating meaningful connections and relationships with colleagues, students, and families
• Participate in Professional Development opportunities
• Promote the philosophy, mission, and vision of NJTL
• Undergraduate degree required, graduate degree a plus
• Minimum of two years of experience in youth tennis and education development
• Enthusiasm and commitment to youth development with the ability to relate positively to people of diverse ages, ethnicity, socio-economic levels, and lifestyles.
• Be able to take charge of a group of students with high energy
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is highly preferred
• USPTA and/or USPTR Certified or significant experience as a tennis instructor and coach
• Must be prompt, dependable, responsible, friendly, organized, and prepared for each class
• Strong organization, planning and communication skills with exceptional attention to details
• Position is based in in Newport, Rhode Island at the International Tennis Hall of Fame
• Full-time position, 40 hrs.
• Must be available for special events as needed, which will include weekends and some extended weekday hours.
