Head Racquets Professional

Chevy Chase Club is seeking a Head Racquets Professional who will be responsible for maximizing the on-court experience for the membership. POSITION OVERVIEW Primary Responsibilities: • Be a passionate ambassador for the games of tennis, platform tennis, and pickleball. • Play tennis, pickleball, and platform tennis at a high level and provide instruction to members of varying skill levels to facilitate skill development and relationship building. Hours on court will be around 30 hours/week. • Together with the Director of Racquets (DofR), implement a consistent teaching philosophy in lessons, clinics and team practices across the racquet’s programs. • Oversee lessons taught by the professional staff. • Enhance professional education aides such as drill books and video libraries. • Use and train all staff on technology to enhance the member experience on the court. • Ensure all teaching equipment is of the highest standard. • Contribute to member emails/newsletters. • Assist inner department heads in the creation and implementation of new programs and events. • Help run events and programs as determined by the DofR. Desired Candidate Qualifications: • A minimum of 10 years of progressive growth and experience in (preferably) a private country club with multi-dimensional operations • Exemplary communication (both written and spoken), interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively with all staff • Proven ability to attract and develop players of all abilities • Passion for teaching and constant learning • Enthusiasm and high energy both on and off the court • Excellent organizational, technological and time management skills and a 5.0 playing competency in tennis and a PTI of 10 or lower in platform tennis • Pickleball expertise or a willingness to quickly learn and become certified • Champion of new ideas and initiatives to consistently improve the member experience while respecting Chevy Chase Club traditions Education and Certifications: • Bachelor’s Degree • USPTA Elite Professional/PTR Professional, PPTR (Professional Platform Tennis Registry) and PPR (Professional Pickleball Registry) certification ABOUT CHEVY CHASE CLUB Chevy Chase Club was organized in the fall of 1892. Almost from the beginning, the Club developed a rich and varied tennis tradition. As early as 1895 the Club records indicate Board authorization for the purchase of three dozen tennis balls. By 1905, the Club had six excellent courts. The Club’s reputation, both nationally and internationally, has grown over the years, with a key event being its hosting of the 1929 Davis Cup Matches. Chevy Chase Club is a full service, family-oriented country club located just outside of Washington, DC. It is currently ranked as #10 on the Platinum Clubs of America list. The Club’s remarkable gardens, grounds, athletic venues and clubhouse facilities offer year-round enjoyment for all ages. The Club’s racquets facilities include 17 outdoor Har-Tru tennis courts, 4 indoor air conditioned Har-Tru tennis courts, and 7 platform tennis courts. Pickleball was recently introduced with matting placed down over 6 of the Platform courts for the summer season. The Club offers an 18-hole golf course, golf practice facility, a fitness facility, three swimming pools, eight lanes of duckpin bowling, an outdoor ice rink, an eighteen-room guest house, a nature trail and greenhouses. Food and beverage facilities include three clubhouse dining rooms, full banquet facilities, two seasonal sports canteens and a high volume, family casual dining restaurant, the Winter Center.
