MURRAY HILL TENNIS & FITNESS OVERVIEW

Murray Hill Tennis & Fitness is a locally-owned business 22 miles outside of New York City. It has six immaculate indoor tennis courts with state-of-the-art-lighting, Plexipave surfaces and PlaySight SmartCourt technology. 

The current owners of Murray Hill purchased the facility in August 2015 and since that time have completed two multimillion-dollar renovations, including a full refurbishing of the lobby, locker rooms and pro lounge, resurfacing the courts, and re-siding the exterior of the building. Clientele of Murray Hill include juniors from 3 to 18 years and adults of all ages. Junior clinics utilize colored balls and a play-based model that keeps kids engaged while learning the sport. Older juniors participate in Murray Hill’s performance program, which is led by a former ITF-ranked player who brings over 25 years’ experience as a player and coach. Adult offerings include clinics, cardio tennis, private lessons, court time and teams. Twelve ladies’ teams compete out of Murray Hill in the Garden State and USTA leagues (including at the 3.0, 3.5, and 4.0 levels).

In 2019, Murray Hill garnered national recognition with a USTA nomination for top facility in the country. Murray Hill’s goal is to deliver a fully engaging and cutting-edge tennis and fitness experience — to create a space for community to learn, connect and enjoy. Their aim is to be the top tennis destination in the tri-state area.

TENNIS TEACHING PROFESSIONAL POSITION OVERVIEW

Murray Hill Tennis & Fitness (MHTF) is looking for a Tennis Teaching Professional (TTP) who will help to continue rapid growth of its program. The TTP is a highly visible position requiring strong presence, communication skills – both written and verbal – with clients and staff.  The TTP is expected to be an on-court leader by passionately promoting the game.  The working environment of the organization is one of professionalism, teamwork, respect and FUN.  

The general roles and responsibilities of the TTP will be to deliver a range of services customarily provided by a PTR Professional or a USPTA professional.  These services include, but are not limited to:

  • Enthusiastically encourage member participation by assisting in events to promote the sport and fellowship in the Club.  
  • If desired, successful candidate will assist in the organization, schedule, and management of tournaments, clinics, round robins, social events, and other tennis-related activities to maximize clients’ access to and enjoyment of the tennis facilities.
  • Follow the MHTF teaching philosophy.  Implement that philosophy throughout the tennis programs.  
  • Provide instruction to clients of varying skill levels to facilitate skill development and relationship building.  
  • Attend pros meetings.

Desired Candidate Qualifications/Experience/Selection Criteria 

The ideal candidate should be an engaging, charismatic, and energetic professional with a minimum of three years of experience teaching tennis.  

  • Exemplary communication (both written and spoken), interpersonal skills and the ability to work cooperatively with all staff.   The candidate must possess a proven ability to attract and develop players of all abilities.   
  • Passion for the game — a champion of new ideas and initiatives, looking to consistently improve the tennis experience.
  • Engaging and charismatic; leads and works well with others – a total team player!
  • Loves to teach tennis to all levels.
  • Understands and lives the Murray Hill Tennis & Fitness culture.
  • Committed to their education and self-development.  Must be open to new teaching concepts and innovation. 

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION
The ideal candidate should hold a current PTR/USPTA certification. 

CLUB COVID REQUIREMENTS
This club does not require staff to be fully vaccinated as a provision of employment.

SALARY AND BENEFITS
