The Assistant Racquets Professional will work closely with the Director of Racquets, General Manager, and the Racquets Committee to maintain a comprehensive tennis, paddle and pickle program that includes: instructional programs, lesson fees, courts usage, office administration, pro-shop activities including control of equipment & merchandise (when appropriate), and social programs. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Tennis:
Train and supervise Racquets staff.
Participate in teaching program during peak outdoor season to adequately fill the needs of children and adult members, including a QuickStart Program for players age 12 & under.
Assist Director in supervision of summer programs, camps, clinics and work-outs to adequately fill the needs of children and adult members.
Assist with and supervise other racquet staff with racquet court maintenance and coverage.
Give lessons and clinics on the techniques and strategies of tennis to members and guests.
Assist in organizing all tennis events and the annual calendar.
Administer and enforce Club tennis policies and procedures regarding play on Club courts when Director is not present.
Platform Tennis & Pickle:
Give lessons and clinics on the techniques and strategies of paddle/pickle to adult and junior members.
Help organize teams to participate in the GBPTL and GBWPTL paddle leagues.
Assist with a Club Championship program as well as offer social events for members.
In the absence of the Director enforce Club Paddle/Pickle policies and procedures regarding play on Club courts.
Office Administration:
Assist in performing all administrative tasks necessary to run the tennis department, such as scheduling, billing, and marketing.
Assist with keeping revenue and expenses in line with budget throughout the year.
Attend departmental staff meetings each week and ensure team is operating under the Club’s and department’s vision and specific goals.
Represent Racquets department, when needed, at weekly department head meetings and monthly Racquet Committee meetings.
Meet weekly with Director of Racquets to review staff, events, financials and other topics as needed.
Make oneself as accessible as possible to members for questions and consultations, responding promptly to phone calls and inquiries if not available.
Ensure daily member charges entered into the point-of-sale system are accurate and complete.
Perform daily maintenance on.
Keep up-to-date on current technologies and trends in the industry.
Pro-Shop:
Assist in running the tennis pro-shop.
String racquets and perform other equipment repair as needed.
Social Programs:
Help organize, administer and officiate tournaments, exhibitions and inter-club and intra-club social events.
Education and/or Experience:
Qualified and certified teacher in the games of tennis, platform tennis, and pickle ball.
Skills required:
An understanding of all facets of running a quality racquets program for Tennis, Platform Tennis and Pickle Ball.
Interpersonal skills and ability to work with adults and children.
Model professionalism and commitment to excellence in teaching and programming.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
PPTR Professional (Tennis) or similar certification
PPTA Certification (Platform Tennis) or similar certification
PPR Certification (Pickle Ball) or similar certification
Physical Demands: The employee may regularly be required to sit, stand, use hands, talk, hear, reach with arms, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl or run. The employee may regularly be required to move, by pushing, pulling or lifting up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions such as extreme heat, snow rain, and cold weather. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. NOTE: Employee may perform other related duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
Benefits & Compensation:
The expected range for the base salary for this position is $35K – $40K
This range does not include any additional pay (clinics & lessons) or benefits for which a person may qualify.
