POSITION OVERVIEW
This is a unique opportunity for a candidate with a successful track record in managing and coaching racquet sports in private clubs. The candidate will be an integral part of the leadership team and have significant freedom to craft and operate the club’s sports program.
The Director of Padel (DoP) will oversee and lead a cohesive padel program designed to serve players of all levels, genders, and ages. Their responsibilities will include ensuring the quality and consistency of on-court experiences, such as private lessons, clinics, tournaments, and events. Additionally, the DoP will play a vital role in fostering engagement and club culture by being highly visible and interactive with members, coaches, and staff.
The candidate should have a desire to provide a positive and memorable experience for members and guests. They possess a combination of excellent skills and racquets knowledge, leadership, and enthusiasm. They must understand the value of a premium experience and provide courteous and timely attention to all players.
The position is full-time, year-round, and reports directly to the General Manager. They will work closely with other Proximo staff members and lead the training, mentorship, and operations of the coaching staff.
THE CLUB
Proximo Padel Club, located in Chicago’s Logan Square Neighborhood, is a brand new 21,000+ sq ft facility that offers 4 indoor padel courts, a snack bar, lounge areas, pro shop, and office space. The Club’s opening is scheduled for May 2025. A second Flagship club with 13 courts is scheduled to open early 2026 in Northbrook, IL.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
USTA rating of at least 5, college playing experience, or equivalent.
Must have a minimum of 5 years experience teaching racquet sports.
Must have experience creating and implementing successful sports programs within a racquet club.
Demonstrated ability to coach and direct all levels of players with positive, effective, and reproducible coaching methods.
Ability to train and oversee coaching staff.
Must have a professional, “ownership” attitude with a high degree of integrity.
Personable and quick to establish rapport with the members through visible and consistent outreach.
USTA Safe-Play certification is required.
Valid First Aid, CPR, and AED certification is preferred.
Bilingual English/Spanish is highly desirable.
Final candidates will be subject to a full background check.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Coaching & Sports
Develop, promote, and manage padel programming for juniors, adults, leagues, and events.
Personally lead tournaments, events, lessons, and clinics.
Supervise coaching staff
Ensure visibility during peak play hours; enhance member experience through courteous, professional service.
Monitor and maintain equipment, courts, and grounds.
Regularly inspect and maintain playing areas.
Uphold professional standards and ethical behavior.
Management
Collaborate with the General Manager to oversee facility operations ensuring that standards of conduct, service, appearance, hospitality, and cleanliness are met.
Assist staff in record keeping of all payments for membership, seasonal court time, hourly rental, events, and tournaments.
Manage the pro shop, as needed.
Assist staff in managing outstanding balances and follow up, as needed.
Occasionally assist reception staff or input information into the court management system.
Assist the General Manager on club-wide communication, such as social media posts, emails, and newsletters.
Act as Manager on Duty in the absence of the General Manager.
MUST BE ABLE TO WORK FLEXIBLE HOURS INCLUDING WEEKENDS.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
The club offers a competitive compensation package consisting of salary and lesson, pro shop, and events commissions. Professional membership affiliations and education allowances are also included alongside standard health and wellness benefits.
Base Salary: $50,000-65,000
Variable commission: dependent on experience, performance and volume.
Benefits: standard health and wellness benefits of a full-time employee.
