Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic, experienced professional to join us as the Director of Pickleball. This is a full-time salaried position located in Jacksonville, Florida, offering a unique opportunity to create a best-in-class member experience from the ground up. As a brand-new facility opening in April 2025, the Director of Pickleball will have the chance to shape all aspects of pickleball programming, operations, and community engagement. This role will involve the development and management of junior and adult programming, tournaments, camps, and more, all aimed at building a thriving pickleball community at The Paddle Lands.
Key Responsibilities:
• Program Development and Management:
o Design, implement, and oversee pickleball programs, including clinics, leagues, social events, and competitive play.
o Develop and manage junior programming, including lessons, leagues, and events tailored to younger players.
o Develop and manage adult programming, including lessons, leagues, and events tailored to all skill levels.
o Organize and manage pickleball tournaments and camps to enhance engagement and attract new participants.
• Member Engagement and Experience:
o Cultivate a welcoming and inclusive pickleball community that encourages participation across all ages and skill levels.
o Provide exceptional customer service and address member inquiries, feedback, and concerns.
• Facility Operations:
o Ensure the pickleball facilities are well-maintained and meet safety and aesthetic standards.
o Manage equipment, court scheduling, and reservations effectively.
• Staff Leadership and Development:
o Recruit, train, and mentor pickleball staff, including instructors and event coordinators.
o Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide opportunities for professional growth.
• Marketing and Promotion:
o Collaborate with the marketing team to promote pickleball programs, tournaments, and camps through various channels.
o Develop strategies to attract new members and retain existing participants.
• Financial Management:
o Assist in preparing and managing budgets for pickleball programs, tournaments, and camps.
o Monitor revenue and expenses to achieve financial goals and ensure sustainability.
Qualifications:
• Proven experience in managing pickleball programs, including junior programming, adult programming, tournaments, and camps.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage with members and staff.
• Knowledge of pickleball rules, strategies, and trends.
• Experience in budgeting and financial management.
• Passion for building community and promoting the growth of pickleball.
Work Environment:
This position involves working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires flexibility, creativity, and a commitment to excellence. Evening, weekend, and holiday work may be necessary to meet the needs of members and programs.
