Director of Racquet Sports – Fox Chapel Racquet Club Job Description Club Overview The Fox Chapel Racquet Club (FCRC) is a private club located in the heart of Fox Chapel in Pittsburgh, PA. FCRC offers a variety of activities for families to participate in throughout the year including tennis, swimming, platform tennis (paddle), pickleball and entertainment. We are a family-oriented club that is always striving to provide the best for our members. FCRC is an active club dedicated to promoting family-oriented activities and fostering both a social and competitive tennis, paddle, and pickleball environment amongst its members. With a long and rich tennis tradition and an enthusiastic platform tennis, and pickleball community, FCRC is looking for a Director of Racquet Sports. Position Overview The Director of Racquet Sports will be responsible for the continued building and promoting of the tennis, paddle, and pickleball programs while energizing and inspiring all ages across a wide range of playing abilities. He/she will be responsible for organizing and providing individual and group lessons, clinics and camps, in addition to supporting and running Club tournaments and other events. This professional should be able to instruct tennis, paddle, and pickleball at all levels. The Director of Racquet Sport will be responsible for the building and developing of his/her team of racquet professionals as well as management of all tennis, paddle, and pickleball related activities and facilities at the Club. Desired Experience Qualifications: • 4-year college degree preferred. • 1-3 years as a Director of Racquet Sports or equivalent position with prior supervisory experience preferred. • 10-15 years racquet sports experience in competitive play. • Minimum 5 years teaching experience. • Private country club or tennis club experience a plus. • Very good communication skills including oral, written and listening. Ability to motivate, organize and lead others. • Membership in either the USTA, APTA, USPTR, PPR organizations desired. Duties and Responsibilities: Continue to build, grow and promote racquet programs • Develop and promote programs that drive involvement in our racquet programs (tennis, paddle, and pickleball) for both adults and juniors. • Organize, schedule and manage Racquet programming calendars (clinics, social events, tournaments, round robins, etc.) that provide equal opportunities and value for recreational and competitive players. • Enthusiastically drive member participation (including juniors) through personal engagement, weekly club newsletter and email. Interact with Club members both on and off the courts. Provide instruction and build racquet skills across all levels • Provide individual and group lessons (available weekdays and weekends) as well as run clinics with support of racquet staff. • Implement and keep up-to-date with new teaching techniques and receive certification from the APTA, USPTA/PTR, PPTA, PPR as necessary. • Possess excellent organizational and managerial skills and maintain an accurate record of all lessons and clinics given as well as billing. Manage staff to support programs • Hire, develop and manage professional staff which will include 1-2 assistant tennis, paddle, and pickleball professionals as well as seasonal staff as needed. • Manage budget for needed staff and programming with partnership and oversight from Club Manager. Provide oversight to ensure our racquet facilities meet membership needs • Provide oversight to club maintenance team on upkeep of 5 platform tennis courts and 8 Har-Tru tennis courts, and 4 pickleball courts • Run the tennis, paddle, and pickleball pro shop and tend to the equipment needs of members. Serve on FCRC management team • Participate on all committees related to racquet sports as needed. • Provide input to Club Manager and FCRC Board on status of racquet program as well as provide ideas for improvements to programs. • Adhere to and enforce all FCRC policies and procedures. Maintain the highest degree of integrity, honesty and character. FCRC offers a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience.
