Lords Valley Country Club is looking for a seasonal DOR who will replace a long-tenured staff member. The new DOR will be able to put his/her stamp on the entire program and elevate the offerings, events, and services to the membership. The DOR will be on the grounds from roughly mid to late April until early to mid-October.
The DOR position is comprehensive and must ensure the successful achievement of the mission and objectives of Lords Valley Country Club. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall operation of the Racquets Program, including racquets, pickleball, pro shop, programming, and staff. The DOR is a highly visible position requiring strong presence, leadership, and communication skills with both members and staff. The DOR is expected to be the leader of the Racquets program by passionately promoting the games of Racquets and Pickleball. These traits must resonate with all staff members.
Under the direction of the General Manager, and in coordination with the Racquets Committee, the DOR administers the policies, procedures, and programs of Lords Valley Country Club relating to all racquet sports.
Leadership
Be a passionate ambassador for all racquet sports; require the same of the staff
Create a complete seasonal calendar prior to the season of events (both instructional and social)
Supervise, lead, and mentor all teaching professionals and pro shop staff
Assure consistent, highly ethical, efficient, and seamless daily operation of club-wide racquet operations.
Oversee departmental programs and services to meet or exceed member satisfaction
Work in tandem with Lords Valley Country Club’s highly regarded senior department staff
Programming
Organize, schedule, and manage tournaments, clinics, round robins, social events, and other racquets related activities to maximize members’ access to and enjoyment of the racquet’s facilities
Create comprehensive events and activities to include social, competitive, and instructional programming for all levels including women, men, and juniors
Provide organizational and structural support for Junior team practice and play.
Ingratiate yourself in the local community recreational activities to be successful at maximizing club programming.
Look for opportunities for intramural and inter-community play for tennis and pickleball
Administration
Oversee department POS operations to ensure accurate member billing and accurate sales/activity reports
Must be a champion of communications. Both with the membership as well as other team members
Attend all senior staff, Racquets Committee, and some sub-committee meetings
Own OR operate a high-quality merchandise and retail operation in the Lords Valley Country Club’s Racquets Shop, ensuring product expectations are met
Manage all staff scheduling
Solid understanding of technology and POS systems. A new Club essential POS system will be installed in the tennis pro shop. Ability to communicate with LVCC tennis community using e-mail, club intranet, text messaging, and other modern methods.
Conduct regular staff meetings within the Racquets operation to ensure effective communications
Enforce all Lords Valley Country Club’s Rules and Regulations governing the use of the facilities, safety, equipment, dress code, and sportsmanship as set forth by Lords Valley Country Club
Prepare racquets promotional items and event results for Lords Valley Country Club’s website, bulletins, e-blasts, etc.
Oversee monthly financial performance, and weekly payroll management
The following positions report to the DOR; 3 assistant professionals and pro shop staff.
Instruction
Develop and implement a teaching philosophy that embraces Lords Valley Country Club’s values and traditions; incorporate standardized teaching methodologies as appropriate
Provide an appropriate amount of private and group lessons to both adults and children; oversee lessons taught by all professionals
Play tennis and pickle ball, and provide instruction to members of varying skill levels to encourage skill development and relationship building
Junior Racquets
Develop and implement a high-level and respected junior program in tennis and pickleball that meets the demand of all junior abilities. Program should be comprehensive, creative, and innovative for all levels of junior play
Proficient in the “USTA’s 10 and Under” initiative on teaching protocol
Coordinate instruction, competitive playing, and intra club team opportunities for all juniors
Create, advertise, and manage a junior racquets camp
EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & SELECTION CRITERIA
The ideal candidate should be an engaging and polished professional with a minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Director of Racquets in a private, member-owned club setting. A head professional at a successful club and racquets program will be considered.

EDUCATIONAL AND CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATIONS
College degree from a 4-year accredited university is preferred, or equivalent working experience in the racquets industry.
Ideal candidates have attained or enrolled in the DORS “Director of Racquets Sports” program by the University of Florida that is endorsed by the USTA and certified through the PTR and USPTA.
Working knowledge of various tennis-specific technology and software programs.
Knowledge of Court Maintenance including Har-Tru and pickleball courts preferred.
