About Us Cedarbrook Country Club in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, is a family-oriented private club that provides a total recreational and social experience for its members. We pride ourselves in providing a sense of family and camaraderie as the cornerstone of our membership. A diverse population of professionals with young families, singles and seniors alike join in creating a unique atmosphere of fellowship. Under the leadership of General Manager William R. “Bill” Beisel, our attentive and highly trained professional staff strives to make the member experience enjoyable and memorable. Our racquet facility consists of 6 tennis courts, 4 hard and 2 Har-Tru courts. Two of the hard tennis courts are currently lined for pickleball as well. Four new, true pickleball courts are currently under construction, scheduled for completion by Spring 2024. Additionally, the four hard tennis courts have new lighting and are available for nighttime play. An expansion of the tennis court patio was completed in the spring of 2023 and there are plans to add an additional patio at the pickleball courts. Cedarbrook’s Tennis and Pickleball programming is organized and managed by the Head of Racquet Sports. Tennis instruction is offered through private lessons and group clinics. Various organized events and tournaments as well as support of the competitive Ladies and Juniors Interclub and USTA Teams is also part of the racquets programming. Pickleball is offered with instruction, organized and intra-club league play. Job Description We are looking for an experienced Director of Racquets to join our team. The Racquets Director is responsible for the overall management and operation of the racquets program, including but not limited to, clinics, leagues, tournaments, and private lessons. The Racquets Director will also be responsible for managing and developing the racquets staff, as well as developing and implementing a strategic and long-range capital plan for the racquets program. The goal of the Racquets Program is to deliver a consistent member/guest experience that meets or exceeds expectations daily. General and suggested responsibilities of the position are listed below. Management is open to creativity and new ideas to drive the member experience within racquets. Plans and directs instructional programs: • Schedules and confirms all court reservations • Ensures that club members and guests receive courteous, prompt and professional attention • Provides a variety of appropriate level lessons and clinics for members • Organizes, administers & officiates at tournaments, exhibitions and inter- & intra-club events • Administers and enforces club policies and procedures regarding play on club courts • Ensures adequate services including racket stringing • Coordinates maintenance, repair and cleaning of courts Management: • Selects, trains, supervises & evaluates the Assistant Tennis Professional & support staff • Assists the Chef and Catering manager to coordinate F&B service support for racquet events • Ensures that all equipment is well-maintained and stored properly • Assists with the set-up and take-down of all nets, chairs, and other necessary equipment • Manages the racquets pro shop • Ensures all sales and transactions are being properly recorded and tracked daily • Establishes and implements an accurate inventory control system and reports results Administration: • Develops the annual and capital improvement budget for the racquets department • Develops a detailed annual calendar of racquets activities and promotion campaigns • Writes and edits all racquets-related news for the club newsletter (including photos) • Maintains a close working relationship with other club professionals • Maintains an accurate record of lessons and clinics given; provide monthly reporting • Attends all staff and management meetings • Participates on all committees related to the racquets operation Qualifications: • 5+ years’ experience working in tennis operations, including 3+ years in a leadership role • Proven track record of developing and managing successful racquets programs • Extensive knowledge of USTA rules and regulations • Strong marketing and promotional skills • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills • Certification from the USPTA, PTR, and Pickleball certification, a plus • Experience organizing and running tournaments • Bachelor’s degree in sports management, business administration, or related field a plus.
