Tennis Department Assistant Tennis Professional – Full Time Related Titles: Assistant Tennis Pro Reports to: Director of Racquet Sports Education and Experience · College degree preferred but not required. · Collegiate team experience desirable, preferably with a 4.5 or above rating. · Experience assisting with adult and junior programs. Job Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations · Able to promote and teach private and group lessons to juniors and adults on indoor and outdoor or courts with soft or hard surfaces. · Ability to effectively communicate through electronic and verbal means to ensure lessons/clinics are booked. Job Summary The assistant tennis professional works to promote the integrity of Westwood Club’s high level tennis program. He/she works as part of a team to support current members’ needs and drive new membership. The tennis pro actively organizes tennis clinics and private lessons that encourage participation in the members’ tennis activities. Primary Responsibilities Include · Work together with the entire tennis staff to best promote tennis and support instruction for all members of the Westwood Club. · Get to know all members. Encourage and recommend lessons and clinics appropriate for each tennis member or group. · Work to support new members. Introduce or set up matches with existing members; explain league play; personally invite members to tournaments and socials; participate in events. · Promote the management, staff and members at the Westwood Club to the community and potential new members, by supporting local tennis programs or organizations. · Support the pro shop by ensuring that players are familiar with the available merchandise and services offered. Job Tasks · Provide group and individual tennis lessons and clinics. · Engage with, observe and provide feedback to tennis members. · Assist with/supervise tennis events and tournaments. · Teaching 35-45 hours per week, working evenings and weekends as is deemed necessary by the membership. Physical Demands and Work Environment · Ability to control natural swing speed during instruction or matches with inexperienced players. · Sufficient stamina to tolerate hot and humid outdoor weather for several consecutive hours. · Continuous standing, walking, running, bending and repetitive actions. · Frequent use of light machinery and hand-held tools. NON-COMPETE · The Assistant Pro is only to provide instruction to Westwood Members on Westwood Property and will NOT instruct off property unless given direct authority to do so by the Director of Racquet Sports. EDUCATION/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS · College degree is preferred and position requires professional certification by USPTR and/or USPTA. Starting Compensation · Hourly Clock In Rate: $12-14/hour + Overtime · Hourly Clinic Help Rate: $30/hour + Clock In Rate · Commission: 50% of Billed Amount + Clock In Rate Job Type: Full-time Pay: $75,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year
