Pro Shop Manager

Full time position: Work at a fantastic, growing tennis/pickleball community in a great location Private racquet, fitness & swim club Great clay courts, hard courts, pickleball courts Compensation commensurate with experience and skill set Group health insurance and 401-k available OVERVIEW: The Pro Shop Coordinator will lead and support a team dedicated to delivering an excellent experience and revenue growth specific to the Club’s tennis program. The role focuses on providing a superior customer experience, establishing relationships within the community, developing a full staff front desk and expert tennis staff under the direction of the Tennis Program Director or the General Manager of the Club. The Pro Shop Coordinator will direct all activities supporting new and established tennis programming within the Club, including such things as: customer satisfaction, and Pro Shop revenue sales/service performance. S/he will be accountable for the successful management, administration, and daily operations of the Tennis Pro who is results-oriented and committed to quality service. The function of the Pro Shop Coordinator is to control the day-to-day operations of the Club Pro Shop according to set policies and procedures and business practices of the organization. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and or ability required. Effectively recruit, lead, manage, communicate, train and develop Pro Shop and Tennis staff including Front Desk employees and Tennis Professionals. Assist in maintaining a welcoming atmosphere for all members, prospective members and guests and ensuring staff follows superior customer service guidelines. Maintain Tennis/Pickleball court schedules. Oversee all Pro-shop retail activities promoting sales of retail inventory to tennis members and guests, including assisting in the growth of tennis program events and boost sales profits within the Pro Shop, and to motivate staff to achieve this same goal. Collaborate with Marketing Dept. to create/post social media and other promotional items for Pro-shop and related Tennis/Racquet programs. Ensure that all issues that arise within the Pro Shop or Tennis program are escalated to appropriate Club leadership for resolution. Promote a superior customer experience within the Club. Actively promote The Club within local communities. Other duties as assigned by General Manager, Tennis Program Director, or Managing Partner. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS: The position reports directly to the Manager in charge of Club Operations or Tennis Program Director. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1) Knowledge, skills & abilities: · Hard working, goal oriented, enthusiastic, and energetic. · Solid work ethic with strong decision-making skills · Self-starter who takes initiative with minimal direction and supervision · Basic computer, math, and communication skills required · Superior customer service skills, preferably in the fitness industry · Solid supervisory, diplomacy and listening skills · Both detail and results-oriented with high degree of professionalism and organizational skills · Strong communication, problem-solving, time management and analytical skills · Strong time management skills, ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a rapidly changing environment · Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within teams · Possess a working knowledge of all purchasing/sales web-based programming and fitness software utilized by The Club as it relates to sales of services to members · Must be computer proficient and well versed in Microsoft Office Suite. 2) Minimum certifications/education/experience level: · Three years supervisory experience. Preferably in a Tennis or Golf Pro Shop or other high volume retail environment. · High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is required; 2- or 4-yr degree or four years of supervisory experience is a plus · Ability to re-string racquets is a plus Must be CPR/AED certified Reasonable accommodations may be possible to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Mental Demands: Reading; ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); multi-task Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Work with frequent interruptions; walking, stretching, some light lifting of boxes, stretching to address retail inventory; frequent use of computer and repetitive hand motions; and close reading on computers · Hours are generally traditional retail hours but may, at times, extend to long or late hours to accommodate Tennis/Pickleball events as well as the need to address related social media posts.
