Tennis Director

FLSA Classification: Exempt Reports to: General Manager Job Description Summary/objective Responsible for developing, coordinating, and supervising all organized tennis activities, including teaching adult/youth programs, lessons, camps, and tournaments. Essential functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions. 1. Provide strong leadership with excellent communication skills and problem solving abilities 2. Responsible for the hiring and training of team members 3. Develop an adequate staffing plan and team schedule 4. Monitor team member productivity, provide constructive feedback and coaching 5. Create and foster a team culture which is centered on achieving goals with high level of customer service 6. Conduct periodic and annual team performance evaluations 7. Keep team and members informed of events and activities and encourage participation 8. Support and handle member issues; make decisions in consideration of the club’s policies and procedures 9. Create and support special events to promote department and club 10. Maintain regularly scheduled hours on department schedule 11. Maintain facility and equipment in safe, working, and clean condition 12. Purchase and maintain supplies necessary for successful facility operation Physical demands 1. Must be able to fully participate in all tennis activities (programs and/or lessons) 2. Must be able to work in warm and humid outdoor conditions 3. Must be able to stand, move, walk, and bend for the duration of a shift 4. Must have ability and willingness to work varied shifts including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays Required competencies, education, and experience 1. USPTA or PTA Certifications required 2. College Degree required; degree in exercise science , recreation, physical education or a related field preferred 3. Minimum two years of experience managing Tennis programs preferred 4. Minimum two years of experience with leading and supervising teams 5. Proficient computer skills Company Expectations 1. Read, sign, and abide by the policies included in the Team Member Handbook 2. Park in team member designated areas 3. Club cleanliness is an all-team responsibility; assist whenever necessary in any area of the club to keep club neat and clean 4. Assist with Service Days 5. Willingness to assist with acac programs, special events, or activities outside your department 6. When supervisor or team members calls or emails, promptly return contact 7. Exhibit a positive attitude at all times 8.
