Tennis Director

Our Allard Center YMCA, a branch of The Granite YMCA, is hiring a Tennis Director to oversee the operations of its four indoor tennis courts. This department already consists of one full-time Assistant Director and 10-15 tennis instructors and coaches. Our Tennis implements and oversees programming such as member tennis court bookings, tennis lessons, private lessons, tennis leagues, junior competitive program and more. The Tennis Director will be part of the branch leadership team and will have resources and support across the organization to grow and thrive within not only this role, but in a future with the YMCA. A key focus will be on continuing to solidify current programming, staff training and development, and future planning. The Tennis Director is responsible for the oversight, planning, directing, budgeting and evaluating of the Tennis programs in accordance with the mission, purposes and policies of the Association. Additional responsibilities include recruiting, training and supervising all staff, both paid and volunteer, related to their area of responsibility. General Responsibilities: • The Tennis Director leads all aspects of the Tennis programming for the Allard Center branch, ensuring our mission, values, and culture are instilled in our strategy, programs and staff structure. • Teaches and coaches an average of 15 hours per week in addition to working hands on with staff to mentor and develop their skill set. • Monitors daily operations to adhere to all association best practices and USTA premier facility requirements. • Hires, trains, supervises, coaches, evaluates and manages a diverse staff team that both meets the needs of the community and represents it. • Administrative management of the Tennis department. • Ensures programs and services meet community needs. Regular direct program hours and ability to attend to staffing needs of the department. • Create and lead a culture that provides an excellent participant experience by implementing quality and diverse programs and services. Qualifications: • To thrive in this role, candidates should bring a background of progressive tennis experience including instructions, management of team members and a strong vision. • Candidate must be a Tennis Pro with experience teaching/coaching all levels including developmental youth through adult, competitive youth/teen training and adult coaching. • Candidates should have a minimum of four years’ experience leading Tennis programming. • Current USTPA/PTR certified and Youth Tennis Certified • Experience working in a fast-paced environment, understanding of scheduling to maximize efficacy of court space and strong relationship building skills. • Candidates should bring experience and an understanding of administrative and human relations skills as they would apply to a tennis department. A bachelor’s degree is recommended though not required.
