The Tucson J seeks a tennis professional for our six hard-court tennis center. As a part of the Wellness Department + Experience Team, the Tennis Instructor should always maintain safety and order as a primary focus and should greet all customers with a warm and welcoming attitude. The successful candidate will work with several other professionals, reporting directly to the Racquet Sports Program Coordinator. A primary function of this and every other job at the Tucson J is to ensure by whatever rational, ethical, and legal means possible that every member, guest, and visitor leaves the “J” feeling just a little better than when they arrived. SCHEDULE: Sunday-Friday, daytime and evening hours available. Availability to cover vacation and sick callouts is appreciated. Weekly clinic schedule will remain consistent. Private lessons and court booking for said lessons is the responsibility of each instructor. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: • Have a deep knowledge of the intricacies of the game. • Enforce facility rules. • Familiarity with Sports and Wellness programming. • Follow the court reservation system to ensure a smooth and even flow of traffic on and off courts. • Offer instructional services including small groups, clinics, private, and semi-private lessons, and team coaching. • Follow the session plans and program structure defined by the Racquet Sports Program Coordinator. • Attends staff and facility meetings. • Promotes the facility and its amenities to potential members when applicable. • Other duties as assigned. REQUIRED: • Must be an experienced player. • Strong team player. • Solid administrative skills • Excellent customer service skills and strong work ethic. • USTA Safe Play Certification • CPR/AED Certification • Teaching certification from USTA, USPTA, PTR, and/or ITF current or within six months of employment PREFERRED: • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field • 3+ years as a tennis professional Contact Amanda Reller, Racquet Sports Program Coordinator at areller@tucsonjcc.org of (520) 618-5062 for more information
