Lots of hugs, smiles and thank yous…..


The PTR Foundation is very proud to sponsor SONA Championships for 20 years in a row. For the first time I (Radhika), volunteered to work at the tournament. They say, parenting doesn’t come with a manual. I just found mine!! The athletes’ parents and coaches taught me patience at a different level and their communication tone was beyond amazing. I got SO many hugs, smiles and thank yous from the extraordinary athletes. The volunteers were so fun to work with. Barry Coats and his team’s dedication and work ethic are commendable. The days are long, but not stressful. The whole week was great fun!. I can’t wait to volunteer again next year!!

Six athletes won the Dennis Van der Meer Sportsmanship Award at the Special Olympics North America Championships! The PTR Foundation awarded these six scholarships to these great sportsmen and women:

  • Jackson-Brian Rhondald Peralta
  • Brogan Blaise Debuhr
  • Adrian Alexander
  • Ann Marie Rodgers
  • Erin Coats
  • Aubrey Lynn Murphy
The award recipients received a HEAD or Dunlop racket, a HEAD racket bag, hat and strings, total price $250. A big shout out to our sponsors – Van Der Meer Tennis Academy and Head Tennis Racquet Sports.

 

Scholarships awarded:
  • 14 scholarships to Women Tennis Professionals – PTR US
  • 25 VDM Educational scholarships to Tennis Professionals – PTR Italy
  • VDM Educational Scholarship to Kendall Moody
  • Humanitarian Award to Adaptive tennis volunteer, Nancy Hoekstra
