DIVERSITY & INCLUSION

Tennis is a game for everyone, regardless of age, gender, race or socioeconomic means. PTR is breaking barriers by providing equitable opportunities for ALL coaches and players to receive accredited education.

Advancing the Commitment to Education (ACE)

ACE is a vehicle to add diversity to our community of tennis coaches. Arthur Ashe deemed it, “The most comprehensive training program for tennis teachers.” The ACE Program served, & continues to serve, as a catalyst for thousands of successful tennis coaching careers. To be an ACE candidate you must be either a coach of color or a coach who intends to work in a diverse program/community. Playing level should be at a NTRP 4.0 or higher, and not be previously PTR certified.

ADAPTIVE TENNIS

Primarily for teachers & coaches, who will augment their existing PTR Certification with Adaptive Tennis Certification. This certification provides the skills required to teach those with intellectual/physical disabilities, who will reach closely to their fullest sport potential through professional instruction. Upon completion, participants will be qualified to receive coaching certification from Special Olympics as well.

PROGRAM SUPPORT

The PTR Foundation is resolved to preserve and continue the legacy of Dennis Van der Meer.

Each year, PTR members generously donate to the PTR Foundation. These funds are used for various charitable & research activities which are within our 5 categories of giving . Some of these charitable activities have included Boys & Girls Clubs, Adaptive PE Programs, National Junior Tennis Leagues, junior scholarships, seed grants to start community tennis programs & other worthwhile projects.
By partnering with other organizations and through our own ACE program, PTR offers scholarships for certification. Our staff is mission driven!
