Wesley Chapel, FL – February 25, 2025 – The Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) is pleased to announce Mitch Case as the recipient of the 2025 Coach Developer of the Year Award. Case exemplifies excellence in coach education and development through his comprehensive approach to tennis instruction and mentorship.
“The first word that comes to mind is ‘honored,'” said Case. “PTR Coach Developers are such a great group of people – I’m incredibly grateful to just be a part of the team.”
A PTR member and certified coach since 2006, Case currently serves as the Director of Tennis at Woodridge Lake in Goshen, CT, while also contributing as a staff coach at the Farmington Valley Racquet Club and Head Coach of the Northwestern Regional #7 Boys Tennis Team. His expertise extends beyond coaching to equipment technology, where he serves as a GRSA Tour certified stringer and instructor. Case’s technical proficiency has earned him positions on prestigious stringing teams, including the Head Stringing Team at Indian Wells since 2021 and the National Bank Open Stringing Team in Montreal.
Case’s journey with PTR has been marked by continuous professional development and a commitment to excellence in coaching education. His path was particularly influenced by early experiences with PTR Coach Developers. “I was fortunate enough to have Brian Parkkonen as a CD for a couple of pathway workshops – his delivery was so impactful. He set an incredible coaching standard, but was also kind, inclusive, and personable,” Case reflected. These experiences inspired his progression through advanced certifications, including the Master of Tennis Program.
The welcoming atmosphere of PTR has been a constant throughout Case’s career. “As a newbie, I couldn’t have felt more welcomed by the organization. I still remember Lamar Scott – even though we had never met – greeting me like an old friend as I walked into the conference room,” he recalled, highlighting the organization’s commitment to fostering a supportive professional community.
Looking ahead, Case expressed enthusiasm for continuing his work in coach development: “I look forward to another great year of getting to work with, and learn from, coaches across the country!”
